Strengthening Our Commitment To Building Standards – Inside and Out

Ash & Lacy are proud to announce that our accredited membership with the FIS (Finishes & Interior Sector) trade association has now been vetted and approved!

Our commitment to improving the standards of mainstream construction has been the main driver for investment in our people, processes and products for some time. Whilst we’ve worked incredibly hard to elevate our own standards of manufacturing, design and engineering over recent years, we recognise the critical importance of industry-wide collaboration to ensure that standards of quality, safety, testing and good practice are widely adopted and adhered to once products have left our factory.

Becoming an officially accredited member of the FIS is an important step towards improving our level of engagement within the sector as a whole and will enable us to contribute to their collective efforts supporting the Industry Response Group looking at the Competency in Construction and related focussed working groups.

Who are the FIS and what do they do?

FIS is the representative trade body for the £10 billion finishes and interior sector in the UK. The organisation exists to support their members, improve safety, minimise risk, enhance productivity and drive innovation in the sector. It was formed from the merger of a number of trade bodies with a collective history that can be tracked back over 100 years. Today, the growing community of members brings together contractors, manufacturers and distributors of ceilings, steel frame systems, operable walls, partitions, plastering, drylining, interior fit-out and refurbishment businesses operating in every type of building.

FIS represents specialists in all aspects of the interior fit-out and finishes sector. As a vertically integrated organisation, FIS works with members from across the sector supply chain support best practice knowledge exchange, drive technical competence and support quality, through the FIS Product Process People Quality Framework. FIS is a not-for-profit community, built around a strict code of conduct – members are subjected to regular ongoing vetting.

FIS represents a growing sector and as such, strive to address key issues that affect their specialist members but also, more broadly, the construction industry and the UK economy. They aim to equip member companies to meet client needs more effectively, to make sure the sector has enough people with the right skills working to high technical standards, and to embed a culture of quality and sustainable development.

We are proud to be members of this dynamic and proactive community that is focussed on delivering a better construction experience for all involved.
