NaturAL-X Brick Cladding Assists Fast Track MMC Project In Gloucester

The recently completed Quayside House development in Gloucester looks absolutely fantastic in the winter sun.

NaturAL-X brick cladding in a blue brindled finish was selected to meet the strict conservation planning criteria for Kier Group’s £16M new health centre, which replaced the previous 1960’s structure located on the same site. Installed by Kovara Projects Limited and supplied by RGB Facades Limited.

ADP Architecture’s development at Gloucester quayside started life as a brown field site. The Council had a vision to transform it into a vibrant hub for the community, centred on a health centre combining two GP surgeries.

Thanks to its setting within the wider city, the development needed to act as a gateway to the commercial area of Gloucester. Routes to, through and from the site were therefore a key consideration, as well as its placement on a flood plain. The project team also needed to think carefully about the mix of uses on the site: how best to combine offices, housing, student accommodation, and health facilities in a way that felt organic and cohesive.

The wider development includes a range of urban spaces, from affordable housing to student accommodation. Efficiently and sustainably connected, with a vibrant mix of buildings, the quayside will act as both a landmark for the city and a bustling community for those who live, work, and visit there.

As well as facilitating an accelerated programme on site, brick slips are much lighter and smaller than traditional bricks, meaning less deliveries to site are required, and they’re naturally better suited to modern methods of construction. We cover this plus much more in our new on-demand CPD module called “Specification Confidence For Brick Cladding Systems”. Click here for more details.
