The construction industry is often disparaged for being behind other industries in innovation, technology and productivity but a significant amount of rainscreen manufacturing has been digitalised for many years. However, having a range of CNC metal processing capabilities ensures that the most appropriate production methods are used for a wide range of materials.
We have four fibre lasers within Ash and Lacy for both 2D and five axis cutting – from 30mm steel to copper, aluminium, titanium etc up to 4 x 2m.
CorTen is notoriously tough on turreting and routering manufacturing processes, but is ideal for our fibre lasers which find cutting steel much easier than highly reflective materials like aluminium and copper. Using automated compressed air laser cutting technology, we create precise and intricate designs on CorTen steel, amongst a myriad of solid metal panel options.
Automated laser cutting ensures a high level of accuracy and consistency in the production process, resulting in panels that fit perfectly together for a seamless finish. This precision also allows for intricate designs and patterns to be cut into the steel, as well as important traceability and Golden Thread identifiers such as batch numbers, material grades and reaction to fire classifications.
The use of automated laser cutting technology increases efficiency and reduces production time, ultimately saving on costs. This means that complex CorTen steel rainscreen cladding panels can be produced faster and more affordably, making them a cost-effective option for architectural projects..
An added bonus is that these machines are powered by solar electricity and there is zero landfill with 100% of offcuts being recycled and no swarf.
