Graduate Civil/Structural Engineer

Due to high business volumes, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Civil/Structural Engineer in the Ash & Lacy engineering team. This role will focus on the project engineering of façade products/systems, aluminium and stainless steel supporting systems and steel structures in the construction industry. As one of our engineering team members, the candidate will also help to provide engineering and analysis for new product development and existing product improvement, if required. This is an exciting role for a graduate engineer to join a progressive and forward thinking company with clear goals and growth plans.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Working on a variety of structural engineering projects, including façade, aluminium and stainless steel supporting systems etc.
  • Engineering support for company projects from concept design to completion.
  • Technical support programme and documentation development for products/systems.
  • Engineering and analysis for new product development and existing product improvement.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Degree qualified in a structural, mechanical or civil engineering related subject.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the structural performance of building products/systems.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Computer skills for day to day work including MS Office, AutoCad etc.
    3D modelling software, FE software and thermal modelling software knowledge and skills are not required, but a working knowledge of some or all of these would be a distinct advantage.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in the construction industry is preferable, but a graduate who can demonstrate a good theoretical/numerical knowledge and skill is also acceptable.

Project Engagement Administrator

Job Description & Profile
Supporting Commercial and Marketing Team, you’ll be at the heart of driving the company’s ambitious commercial strategy for an exciting range of products and services in the Construction sector. As an important member of the project engagement team, you’ll be involved at all levels of planning, administration and delivery of projects, client liaison and communications across various digital and real-world platforms. You’ll be able to turn your hand to a multitude of different tasks in supporting the company’s ambitious growth strategy in the UK and abroad.

The ideal candidate will have a ‘can-do’ attitude with at least a basic understanding of sales and marketing principles, highly organised and detailed, be an effective communicator and have confidence in analysing data for reporting purposes. Product training and support will be provided, but B2B experience the manufacturing, construction, automotive or interiors sectors would be an advantage.

Position Details
Full time-permanent, office-based – Smethwick.

Salary & Benefits
Up to £21,000 p/a (DOE), 21 days holiday + Bank Holidays.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Log Internal and External Project Registrations.
  • Log quotes and upload or link to CRM project management system.
  • Organise client sample requests, administration, replenishment, packaging and delivery.
  • Create samples tracking data on CRM and track progress, reporting as required.
  • Assist the Head of Specification with organisation and preparation for scheduled appointments.
  • Assist the Head of Marketing with the creation of sales presentations and project proposals.
  • Use the Epicor ERP system to provide administration support to the Area Sales Managers.
  • Update CRM system to assist Area Managers as required and report data to management.
  • Assist customers when visiting the showroom or attending factory tours onsite.
  • Answer telephone calls from customers, assisting with or allocating as appropriate.
  • Develop relationships and work closely with key stakeholders (distributors, clients, contractors and suppliers) in order to maximise sales opportunities.
  • Coordinate supply chain information including compliance forms, working with the Finance, Specification and Sales Teams to collate information.
  • Assist collating data from marketing and technical on any product updates.
  • Collate project specific information from the internal teams to supply to client’s necessary drawings or technical details required.
  • Work with Architectural practices to keep libraries up to date with product literature.
  • Analyse data from NBS platforms and identify project lead opportunities for the project engagement team.
  • Review and report on formalised data and guidance from industry bodies such as CPA and CIBSE.

Skills & Specifications

  • Excellent Organisation skills.

  • Able to cope with reasonable pressure.
  • Flexible and committed.
  • Manufacturing and production experience ideal, but not essential.
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office.

Education & Qualifications
GCSE’s or equivalent, A Levels or equivalent.
