A Premier League Ashzip Roof For Celtic FC

SPL football club Celtic FC's new multi-million pound state of the art football training academy in Lennoxtown, can boast an Ash & Lacy Ashzip roofing system as its crowning glory. The academy, set in 50 acres of land, with Lennox Castle as its backdrop, has been tailor-made as the base of Celtic FC's entire footballing operation, to offer the first team the world-class facilities they require, as well as a facility where the youth squad and reserve teams can be trained to continue the Celtic FC standard of play.

The roof features 4000m² of Ashzip standing seam which was complimented by Ashfab fabrications for the perimeter detailing. The main roof was completed in natural mill finish aluminium, which was chosen for it’s durability and also environmental consideration. The project exploited the benefit of Ashzip sheets which were rolled on site using Ash & Lacy’s portable roll forming machine, meaning the sheets could be produced in long, continuous lengths, approximately 56m, without interruption or endlaps This lack of junctions makes the resulting standing seam roof even more weather resistant, rendering leakages virtually impossible.

The training centre consists of 4 full sized standard UEFA football pitches, one of which is artificial, indoor training areas as well as changing facilities, a full gym and fitness suite including spa and hydro pool facilities; a medical and physiotherapy centre and a sports science and development zone. The academy also houses Celtic FC's Media Centre, Admin offices and classrooms for the centre's education facility.

Built as the focal point of the clubs' operations, the building which was to house the new academy needed to mirror the longevity for which it was intended - one of the key reasons why Cambuslang based Main Contractor, CCG Limited , specified an Ash & Lacy Ashzip roof for the project. The Ashzip standing seam roofing system was developed by Ash & Lacy to enhance the total roofing envelope package solution the company offered, by incorporating other high performance Ash & Lacy building envelope products into the system. Thus, compatibility between each individual component is ensured, resulting in the outstanding aesthetic and performance characteristics for which they are renowned. The Celtic FC Training Academy was officially opened this month and is now commissioned and fully operational as the headquarters for all Celtic FC's activities.
