Roofing and cladding specialist Ash & Lacy has further improved the safety and structural performance of its market leading Ashgrid AG40 spacer support system with the introduction of an innovative, high performance Safe-Loc™ bar and new deeper ribbed brackets. These latest developments are in response to ever-increasing demands from Building Regulations requiring taller bracket heights, to enhance structural performance of systems above 180mm in height as well as the need to continuously improve the speed and safety of the installation processes.

The new Safe-Loc™ spigot design is a simple but clever innovation, which ensures precise connection and a secure inter-lock between the bars is achieved every time at the click of a tab. This ensures that the Ashgrid bars cannot separate during the installation process ensuring safe, precise gauging as well as quicker installation and using fewer components when compared with other systems. This new approach means there is no requirement for bar fixings, saving on installation time and cost. Ash & Lacy's engineers have also enhanced the systems brackets, which now feature deeper ribbing to improve structural performance especially at the deeper construction depths. This removes the need to install anti-sway brackets below 230mm construction depth again saving time, cost whilst reducing complexity. Above 230mm where anchor brackets may be required (subject to the roof conditions) they can be simply fitted, one per run in place of a standard bracket.

Ash & Lacy Technical Manager comments -"Unlike some systems, our new Safe-Loc™ spigots are not loose fit and are therefore not subject to the structural weaknesses which can arise if the spigots are not fully and securely located. The bar ends simply push together in one quick and easy action. The Safe-Loc™ tab engages, providing a secure inter-lock between the bars every time without any requirement for fixings. Once engaged the bar ends cannot be accidentally or unintentionally separated ensuring the system remains stable and secure during the critical installation stages. These designed-in innovations will help to further reduce risk on site as well as improving productivity and increase the system capability and value for the installer and specifier."

An ongoing programme of research and development for Ashgrid AG40, the first engineered spacer support system in the UK has ensured the system has remained the optimum solution for a wide range of roofing applications and the contractors first choice.
