The Ashjack over-roof conversion system from Ash & Lacy has been granted a certificate under the LANTAC (Local Authority National Type Approval Confederation) scheme, a widely respected national certification scheme for companies supplying building
systems to the public sector.

This is the second significant certification for Ashjack in recent months, having recently obtained a BBA (British Board of Agrément) certificate.

LANTAC was originally a regional scheme but was adopted as a national scheme in 1987, since when all local authorities in England and Wales have become members of LANTAC, recognising it as a marque, which demonstrates that building systems have been approved to the relevant building regulations.

A LANTAC certificate shows all local authorities that the certificated building system has been approved for a project by a given local authority.  Once approved, systems manufacturers can then submit applications with other authorities without the necessity to have the plans re-checked.  The scheme is designed for systems which are capable of producing a variety of buildings using standard components and construction details.

Commenting on the certification, a Technical Manager with Ash & Lacy said – “Ashjack is designed to provide a permanent solution to flat roof failure and can also be used in new build applications as an alternative to timber trusses or heavy hot rolled sections.  As the original over-roof conversion system it remains very popular with local authorities and has been used extensively since it was introduced in the late 1980’s.  We know how suited it is to this sector and we are pleased that our LANTAC certificate confirms this to those authorities that we have not yet worked with.”
