Ash & Lacy Building Systems have supplied their AshTech Rainscreen Cladding System to transform an old warehouse unit into a thriving casino in Stoke-on-Trent.
The dilapidated warehouse unit needed a refurbishment for over twenty years. Stanley Casino, the UK's largest gambling operator, recognised the potential investment which could be made to convert the unit into a gambling attraction.
Aesthetic appeal was another reason for choosing AshTech with Ash & Lacy Building Systems employed to supply 800 square metres of rainscreen cladding panels to provide a quality, modern finish to the project.
The AshTech cladding is a ventilated rainscreen which allows any water ingress to escape through the joints of the external cladding, thus preventing rainwater from damaging the internal structure.
The highly durable façade with its ventilated cavity protects the inner leaf from risk of damage caused by adverse weather conditions and ultra violet light. This cladding system is an ideal solution to prevent deterioration of the existing warehouse structure.
The AshTech panels offer versatility; panels are available in horizontal and vertical joints which create visually impressive, flat straight panel lines. The cladding panels come in a range of colours to enhance the building ‘character’ which sets itself apart from conventional buildings.
The architect, Derek Walker Associates, stipulated a bronze metallic finish interspersed with structural glazing and polished granite features, for an instantly recognizable casino.
AshTech cladding joints are normally 20mm x 20mm to allow some degree of tolerance variation in construction for a building. However, in this instance, the architect had specified joints at 10mm x 10mm, requiring in-depth planning, precise manufacturing and accurate installation in order to achieve the site tolerance compatibility. Once this was mastered, the conversion proved impressive with the final result ‘hitting the jackpot’ for the casino!.
