Wise Investment For West Lancashire


Ash & Lacy's Ashzip standing seam and Ashgrid spacer support systems have been used to complete West Lancashire's first Investment Centre. The building, which provides over 4,300m² of office space, housing meeting rooms, training and conference facilities and quality incubator systems, is part of the West Lancashire District Council's 'Priority 1' North and West Lancashire Action Plan, to help expand and develop Small to Medium Enterprises (SME's) in the area. A 'quality, hi-tech environment' was the main requirement for the project. The main contractors on the project were Eric Wright Construction, with the roofing contract undertaken by Range Roofing Ltd. A representative of Range Roofing commented that Ash & Lacy systems were chosen due to their superior service and value for money and the excellent resistance of Ashzip standing seams to wind suction in such an exposed open country location.

Ashzip400 plain mill stucco embossed aluminium, the material used on the centre, will last the life of the building, providing a one-stop solution to leakage, thermal performance and resistance to wind suction. Combined with Ashgrid spacer support systems, the resulting site has successfully achieved a dynamic high quality contemporary design. Onsite architect Alistair Baines of Cassidy and Ashton Construction, confirmed that the installation of the Ash & Lacy roof proved extremely efficient and flexible.

Located on the Whitemoss Business Park in Skelmersdale, off junction 4 of the M58, the Investment Centre received £3million from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), and £2.1million from the European Regional Development Fund, both of which were in favour of fulfilling such an essential development scheme. The centre has already been occupied by several companies, such as the CFBT Centre for British Teaching (CBFT) and Training West Lancashire, and is continuing to generate interest from further afield to occupy the few remaining vacant units.
