A £2.7 million redevelopment of Moat House Community
Primary School in Coventry features a striking new aluminium standing seam roof from Ash & Lacy. The
development by Coventry City Council and New Deal for Communities also incorporates Ash & Lacy's Ashgrid
spacer support system, which forms an integral part of the company's standing seam roofing package. Some

using Ash & Lacy's specialist mobile roll-forming unit.
The use of a site assembled standing seam roof construction enabled perforated absorbent linings to be
incorporated to improve acoustic performance by controlling vibration and reducing unwanted sound within the
building - often a prime consideration in educational projects. The roof also featured large triangular
rooflights that imposing certain restrictions on roofing contractors Construction Profiles which they were
able to overcome through the flexibility of the Ashzip system with the support from Ash & Lacy's technical
team in West Bromwich.
The Ashzip system was proposed by Dave Clarkson of Construction Profiles who cited Ashzip's "…versatility and
ease of processing" as the main reasons behind his choice. He also commented that the service provided by
Ash & Lacy was excellent, with the company's technical support team playing an integral role, helping to
ensure that all involved in the project were highly satisfied with the results.
Moat House Primary was created from an amalgamation of Wood End and Eburne Primary Schools and as part of a
community regeneration plan, with the school hosting a range of community facilities.
