ASHZIP Curved Roofs Designed For Kings


Ash & Lacy's Ashzip standing seam roofing system has proven to be top of the class following its selection for the refurbishment of a Midlands school.

Ash & Lacy are recognised by architects, roofing contractors and specifiers across the UK for their ability to create visually stunning curved roofs using the Ashzip standing seam roofing system. This reputation is one of the key reasons why roofing contractor, Anglo Holt Construction, selected Ashzip for the £2.7 million building project, comprising of a new sports hall, learning resources centre and drama block for Kings School, in Wolverhampton.

The creative brief from Staffordshire based architectural practice Horsley Huber Architects required a roof system that could be curved on both plan and section. Over 1,500m2 of Ashzip 400 in stucco embossed plain mill aluminium was employed, with some 3,700 linear metres of curved sheets produced on site using Ash & Lacy's mobile roll forming unit.

Curved Ashzip roofs were installed on the drama building and sports hall, while the learning resource centre which was a more complex design, featured tapered Ashzip sections constructed using segmented profiles to create an attractive fan-effect, which curved both ways. By applying technical expertise to analyse the roof layout, combined with computer generated imaging, Ash & Lacy were able to achieve the accurate geometric layouts required to accurately fit the sheet profiles to the curved roof structures.
